hhs logo transparentJordan, 18, is our oldest, and he graduates today from Heritage High School in Ringgold, GA.  Today, he brings to an end, the end of an era, a chapter, a state in his life.  It’s one of 5 or 6 major events that happen to all of us in a lifetime. He’s experienced two of those so far:  Jordan DaddySalvation and High-School Graduation.  Kim and I are very proud of him.  He was home-schooled early in his life, excelled, and then moved into public schools in 10th grade, and has achieved far beyond our expectations.  Hard work pays off!  W.A. Criswell said years ago, that to do anything successfully took three things: Work hard, work hard, and work hard.  That’s what it takes for anything we do.  Congratulations, Jordan, from all the Craven family for graduating today!  WE love you!

IMG_0463Well, here it is…graduation for our oldest, Jordan.  Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., he becomes a high school graduate.  He graduates in the top 4 of his class with high honors, scholarships, and early acceptance into one of the great universities on the planet, The University of Georgia.  Believe it or not, he plans to major in Physics…he’s always loved the aerodynamics stuff.  Wow, he’s much smarter than his daddy!  It’s tough to let him go…time was so short with life as we knew it, all together, road trips, hangin’ out.  It’s kind of a tough transition.  Does he make us proud?  You better believe it!

God’s Plan B?

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of our mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

                                    A= Perfect Will of God

                                    B= Good Will of God

                                    C= Acceptable Will of God

                                    D= Permissive Will of God

                                    F= Out of God’s Will

Is there an A-F plan for our lives?  What do you think?

InviteFront_CMYKStarts June 7!  You don’t want to miss this one!

Irresistible service to a community is a huge core value for Origin Church…..if you haven’t “gotten this” yet, you’ve got to dig in to this concept and understand why it’s not just something we put on the calendar.  Because of post-modernism and a new skepticism in the culture of anything unreal and inauthentic, the church has lost its connection to the world and become irrelevant and ineffective.  In response, churches need to build bridges to the world in order to reconnect with it.  The only way a church can connect with a community is to love people and the community the way that Jesus did.  Jesus met needs first, then people listened….We just completed an exciting service project to our city in Ringgold, 1890′s days!  We actually served in lieu of having worship services this past weekend….very rewarding!  Thanks to all who came out!

Tonight, beginning at 5:30 and tomorrow, beginning at 10A, Origin Church begins a weekend of SERVING our city at 1890′s Days, downtown Ringgold…………….it’s a huge core value for us, that everyone possible serve inside and outside our church.  If you can make it, let Jeff Gonzalez know at jeffg@originchurch.tv.  Your food and an Origin t-shirt will be provided…………need to RSVP if you can help so we can plan.  It’ll be a fun time together!

God has ways, huh?  Cool!

They’re Not Friends

I was in the corporate world before ministry and noticed that friends were not really friends.  They were work associates, only. They only needed you today because they needed to advance their salaries or their careers.  It’s the same thing in ministry.  I have watched capable people get to the “top” wherever that is, and notice that something came along that separated them from so-called friendships.  The interesting thing is, they were never friendships, so you don’t really lose anything.  They were “ministry acquaintances.”  They care about you as long as you can do something for them and as long as you don’t step on their turf.  You quickly find out that real friendships are those that love, care, and are concerned about you, regardless of your title!  The sadder part is, you can’t really find that out without the “fire,” or desperation in your life.  That’s why Romans 8:28 is always in effect….regardless of how bad it gets, there is always a good side.

As you know, at Origin, our heart is to do 4 things well, and 4 things only:

  1. Worship
  2. Family Ministry
  3. Connect in Small Groups
  4. Serve (inside & outside)

NO CHURCH this weekend, being Memorial Day! However, in lieu, we are choosing to SERVE our city at the largest festival of Ringgold’s year, the 1890′s Days!

Next Few Weeks:

  • May 24- NO WORSHIP AT DEPOT

  • May 31- Worship in the Park (downtown next to creek)

HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?

We have two different days, this Friday and/or Saturday for you to serve with us!

SERVING is making a difference for Origin Church…it has united us as a church, allows us to “hang” in a different environment, and also allows us to be like Jesus!
