5 Days Away

Posted: March 31, 2009 in Giving

We ask that you really pray for God to move and allow us an “easy yoke” this week.  Our team is very excited and the emotions in all of us are high, in many ways.  We have a number of needs as we come down this stretch.  If you are praying about or thinking about partnering with us, now is the time.  We have a lot of potential partners out there but “in waiting” for whatever reason, and we need your help, especially in this 11th hour.  So, pray and help, if you can.  You can give right here online;  just click on the bar to the right of this blog.  Thanks in advance!

*If you would like to purchase items for our kids ministry, you can do it direct right here:  http://www.target.com/lists/3TB6BRGO5TZ6Z  If you do, let us know via email and we’ll send you a mailing address.

6 Days Away From Launch

Posted: March 30, 2009 in Launch

We had a great, final launch team meeting last night……the energy was high, the spirit of God moved in, and the emotion of out team coming together for a calling such as this is overwhelming.  We all feel privileged to be a part of something of this magnitude.  It’s rare in a lifetime that anyone helps plant and launch a new church, especially one that has decided to laser focus on somehow, someway, creating an environment(s) that connect with unreached people.  We need God’s help in so many ways!  Thanks in advance!

10 Days Away From Launch

It’s an interesting journey of feeling and faith, for sure.  I can tell you, that we are tired of planning…I can tell you it has been exhilirating getting to this point…I can tell you it’s the toughest work any person would ever do…I can tell you there’s not enough hours in a day…I can tell you that it must be a venture initiated by God, or it’s insanity…I can tell you (quoting my friend Kristin Avery) that if it’s just for one family and we only stayed one month, God would want us to give it the extra effort we have given it…I can tell you that is true…I can tell you unless God breaths on it, we’re sunk…I can tell you God has given us a great team…I can tell you God has ways…I can tell you we’ve done most all we can do at this point, so now we surrender…I can tell you we can’t wait for launch day…I can tell you it will be worth it all!!!!!

So Timely

God has ways, for sure…………as a pastor since 1991, and hopefully influencing some lives, the note I received two days ago from the granddaughter of a good friend is a good example of how God gives you what you need, even less than two weeks before launch. Louise Disney went to heaven over a year ago and was a huge encouragement to me through the years.  She always said that God had some plans for me in this part of the country.

As we come down to 11 days before launch, the enemy can try to shortchange you, cause doubt, sideline you, or just plainly cause a state of “There’s no way.” The great news about this whole venture is, it’s not been our idea, but HIS, therefore, it’s HIS outcome, HIS challenge, HIS result, HIS people, and HIS church. So often in life, me included, we manufacture our dream and ask God to bless it.  It never works!  Been there done that…..trust me; you’ll be on a desert experience if you insist. The even greater news for all of us is that we are not defined by what we do.  We are defined by the who we are down deep on the inside. Regardless of what we do, if we are advancing HIS kingdom, we are laying the groundwork for our legacy.  We all need to be at peace with that thought, and rest.  You may be doing something or being called to something you never thought you would do, but it’s not about you, or me.  Our job is to surrender.

Emotions

They’re an interesting phenomenon.  They will lie to you and they will accentuate you.  Either/or, can be devastating.  Don’t get me wrong, they are a good thing, if kept in check.  You’ve been around emotional, basket-case people who drove you nuts and you’ve been around solid, well-put-together folks who shed a tear, and it touched your heart.  So, those are both sides of the spectrum. However, emotions should never dictate God’s leadership for our future.

They are not good guages.  They are one angle, but not to be counted on as the final answer.  I’ve always said that I’ve never been smart enough to know God’s will, so I ask Him, ask others, and pray.  That multitude of counselors, His touch, and outside affirmation, have led me well these years. Our family has had an amazing run!  Don’t get me wrong, life is a highway, for sure, with hills, peaks, and valleys.  We ALL go into ALL of these ALL of our lives.  I have determined that I cannot control the timing of those, the when of those, or the how long of those.  The only thing I can control is my own attitude as I go through them ALL. Hmm, think I’ll apply this to myself today, as we are only two weeks away from launching a church.

Volunteers

As we get closer to launch on April 5, we really need sharp people to lead in production, kids & preschool, student ministry, groups, administration, care, communication, guest services, and more.  Whether paid or volunteer, the most important key for us is to make sure we have the right people on the bus; people who clearly understand our mission and direction, and are passionate about leading people into a forward progress relationship with Jesus Christ.  As you talk to others about Origin Church, keep an eye out for the “right people” for us.  We are in need!

Pray About This

I need to ask you that are a part of our launch team, to be faithful in the tithe.  God blesses a generous heart.  Secondly, if you are a part of this journey in any way, we need you to pray today!  We need an infusion of funding to move forward toward launch!!!! Ask God, with us, to help us!  Thanks in advance!
