The Final 60 Days

Our calendar timelines are being drawn, the purchase of portable products begins, the team is pulling all the pieces together, and we are getting ready…………………We still need a lot, but God knows!  I heard someone say, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”   And so, we loosely hold to our plan here, and listen for His.  We’re ready for audibles, at any turn!  By the time we launch on April 5, we would have spent close to 20 months in preparation.  Amazingly, we still wonder if it’s enough, but, it’s time to launch!  There are people out there who need what we’re “giving.”  ”God, give us favor and wisdom to stay focused on YOU, and not the actual launching of a church.  Thank you for the great team of volunteers that have been a part since August.  We pray you begin to let the world know what you’re doing, somehow, someway.  We’re available.”

How Can You Help At Origin?

We launch Sunday, April 5, @ 10:30 at The Ringgold Depot  (see originchurch.tv for map)!  How can you help?  To pull this off, we need about 60 volunteers.  Volunteer as a “missionary” or as a mission-trip team.  Stay as long or as little as you need to!  It will help!  Origin Church is fueled by amazing volunteers…people who leverage their time, talents and energy into serving others and building the Kingdom.  We have a fabulous team of about 20 volunteers at current.  If you’re interested in serving in one of these areas, just email jeffg@originchurch.tv and he will connect you with the right person.

Guest Services Team (greeters, ushers, coffee) – 20 people

    Production – 10 people

    Preschool – 15 people

T.I.M.E

A good friend of mine once said when asked how you get over the tragic pains of this life, to which he replied, “T.I.M.E.”  No doubt about it.  If we have it available, it is a grand healer to us.  If it is not available, some healing goes undone.  One thing is for sure, we all have the same amount of time in a day.  Some do good with it, others complain about it, and still yet, some act as if their time is more important than others.  Here’s my thought:  Squeeze all you can out of a day because you will have forever to rest.  I love that Tim McGraw line, “I went skydiving, I went rocky mountain climbing, 2.7 seconds, on a bull named Fu Man Chu.”  As far as planting a church, the workload is outrageous……..however, who am I to complain?  Let’s be thankful we have a mission today.  If we can all just delete from our minds, the fabricated success “bar” and weigh what we do in smaller increments…………like, just go add value to someone today!  The launch of our churches will take care of themselves.  Don’t bite the apple of numbers!  It’s a liar!  Trust me!  Enjoy this reminder!

Thanks to my friend, Dr. Mark Womack, for sharing his giftedness with us tonight and leading our launch team through Spiritual Gifts.  What a difference this will make as everyone gets in their volunteer position to launch Origin Church!  We released the official launch date for Origin Church, Sunday April 5, 2009, 10:30 a.m.!  You gotta be a part of this with us!  It’s the chance of a lifetime to be a part of a MOVEMENT!  We’re excited to launch!

These Last Few Weeks

I’ve been in one of those stretches that just seemed to pull you in every single direction.  Yes, we’re launching a new church, and it takes a lot of time, energy, and money.   I heard Ritchie Miller say, “Planting one is the most difficult thing you could ever do and pastoring a church is the second most difficult thing you could ever do.”  I’ve done both and would agree!  You have to get up everyday, and ask God what He has for that day, raise funding, raise people, and raise the church, eventually.  Today ends one more two weeks of major-league, one-after-the-other meetings to bring friends, churches, and networks on board the ship of the Origin Church.  God has his hand on us and it can be felt.  His favor is everywhere.  We’re doing all of this for one reason: Faithfulness.  We have a burning desire for God to mold us and use us in such a way that the skeptic, the bored, and the one that doesn’t even believe will realize that we and another,  love and care about them.  We want it done His way.  With all that said, beginning this afternoon, we enjoy our family for the weekend!

Still Working

Great meeting in Nashville today with a possible new partnership organization.  God continues to unite us with A-team leaders and organizations to walk this journey with us.  I am amazed!  We’ll announce it later after final details are in place.

I’m sure you watched the landmark event today………..It occurred to me that God always has His way, in unique ways.  When you think about the fact that there was a day when slaves were being traded outside the capital as the new President watched, today is a day that God proves, once again, “We are ALL created in His image.”   It has taken hundreds of years in America for us to get to this verse of scripture, but it happened.  Every man, woman, boy, and girl, regardless of race, background, or creed, is made like Jesus Christ.  The only caveat is, you and I have to “activate” that Godliness down on the inside which then makes us a follower of Christ.

Today, I feel, God gently shows us that it’s not about government, style, look, background, or culture, but He proves and honors His word, first, in concerning Himself with the value of the creation of ALL people! George W. Bush’s character was proven all the way to the end…………he showed the love of God in Him to our new President and valued him as a creation in God’s image, and considers him a new friend.  It takes a GIANT man to live in this way.  We must do the same to change this world!  A touching day to be an American!

We have spent two mornings already, researching and meeting with our leaders in the county about how Origin Church can best give away of ourselves and serve our city…………We have found so many possibilities such as mentoring high school students who might not have a father influence, along with other numerous possibilities such as clothing for the school clothes closets, and additional projects that are ongoing.  One of the main reasons we exist at Origin is to serve, inside the church, and outside the church with one goal: To help add value to a community making it a better place to live, be, and become.  It’s pretty dawggone rewarding, as you can well imagine.  We couldn’t be more excited to be doing what we are doing!  Lives……..in the balance!  Jesus said, “Whom shall I send?”  Our team has said, “Us, Lord.”  What about you joining us?  Are you being used in this way?
